Here is the update from my Cousin Tammy…

“First, thank you to all who are praying for my mom and have asked how she was doing- it means so much! And guess what? There is power in prayer!

When I first went to see her on day 1, she was still at the ER and basically so sick she was sleeping and completely out. She saw I was there, half smiled and half spoke, then went back to sleep.
The next morning I spoke with a doctor who told me because she was at such high risk for aspiration in eating\drinking that her prognosis was poor and asked me questions about how much care to give her.
I had to be gone most of the day that day (and near tears most of the time) and then Tony and I went back early last evening. We walk in and she is fully awake and smiling! I was stunned and spent the visit talking with her, holding her hand and trying not to bawl out of sheer gratefulness …because even though I still wasn’t sure what would happen, I honestly didn’t think I would ever hear her talk with me again. That alone was probably due to all your prayers.
So, here is the specific prayer request:
When we left the nurse had said that no nutrition for her had yet been ordered, but just got a call from the doctor moments ago that tube feeding is now ordered. So I’m especially praying that God would miraculously touch her so that she is able to eat and drink soon and even that her spine might straighten a bit. And at the least, we’d figure out the best future nutrition for her down the road since aspiration is going to always be a risk as it is now.

Please pray for my Aunt Ruth. My cousin Tammy just posted this on Facebook…

“Please pray for my mom. She was just taken by ambulance to the hospital with trouble breathing and is most likely due to pneumonia.
But for months now, her neck has become more and more bent to the side, making it hard for her to get good oxygen and even eat properly. (She’s in an adult foster care home.) I really don’t know how much longer she has but please pray that she experiences peace and comfort. Going to go see her now…”

Please continue to keep the Belknap family in your prayers. The Dad was involved with a hit and run on his way to work the other day – He is still in very critical condition, this is the last update…

“This morning has been busy yet again.  Met with the brain trauma specialist Matt has bilateral significant frontal lobe injuries. This area effects intelligence, decision making, and personality.  The Drs. are unable to give any kind of prognosis on that yet.   They are talking surgery later today or tomorrow to fuse his spine and maybe fix his arms, wrists,  and hands.   Way more facial fractures then I knew about the Dr. just said he should go back together fairly well 10+ plates in his face. His nose and sinus are literally shattered into mm pieces and they are hoping to get some structure however most likely will always have sinus issues.  They have him on the books to do one facial reconstructive surgery Thursday if neurosurgery clears him… meaning he is stable enough.  He was able to squeeze my hand,  gave a thumbs up when asked if he knew what happened,  and I said I love you he nodded like crazy and gave thumbs up!!!! My friend Tamara asked for prayers and safety. She lives down by Brookings, Oregon. They have helped their friends evacuate from the Chetco Fire and so far, their home is safe… however would appreciate prayers for all.. Thank you Elizabeth Pfaff
