When we approach a design element such as window treatments, we think about how to make the finished product truly unique to our client, their furnishings and their space. In this instance, it only took a bit more time and energy to make these valances 100% custom for our client. These little nuances are details that one might not pick up on at first glance but they are the nuances that make you say &#8220;wow&#8221; when you walk into a room.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/margaretdonaldsoninteriors.com\/2013\/02\/from-rug-to-cornice-design-and-wall-detail-margaret-on-the-job\/img_0605\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1238\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-1238 \" title=\"IMG_0605\" src=\"https:\/\/margaretdonaldsoninteriors.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/IMG_0605-1.jpg\" alt=\"Client with Margaret\" width=\"413\" height=\"537\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The client pops over to render an opinion. Gloria lays her traced template over the lining and begins to cut the template.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/margaretdonaldsoninteriors.com\/2013\/02\/from-rug-to-cornice-design-and-wall-detail-margaret-on-the-job\/img_5973\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1250\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-1250 \" title=\"IMG_5973\" src=\"https:\/\/margaretdonaldsoninteriors.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/IMG_5973-1.jpg\" alt=\"Cutting Out The Valance Template\" width=\"413\" height=\"537\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Gloria is the most trusted of all with a pair of scissors. She is the one who cuts into the fabric, too. While we all work together to place the pattern repeat, Gloria is bold enough to cut.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/margaretdonaldsoninteriors.com\/2013\/02\/from-rug-to-cornice-design-and-wall-detail-margaret-on-the-job\/img_3886\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1245\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-1245 \" title=\"IMG_3886\" src=\"https:\/\/margaretdonaldsoninteriors.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/IMG_3886-1.jpg\" alt=\"Valance template\" width=\"413\" height=\"537\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>All cut out and pinned up to the window&#8230;option 1 for the valance is the scalloped pattern from the rug.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/margaretdonaldsoninteriors.com\/2013\/02\/from-rug-to-cornice-design-and-wall-detail-margaret-on-the-job\/img_5798\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1249\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-1249 \" title=\"IMG_5798\" src=\"https:\/\/margaretdonaldsoninteriors.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/IMG_5798-1.jpg\" alt=\"Second Valance Option\" width=\"413\" height=\"537\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Now, it&#8217;s time to try the alternate design from the rug&#8230;the more pointed Moroccan feeling design. Gloria is pointing out why this pattern will fall nicely on the valance.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/margaretdonaldsoninteriors.com\/2013\/02\/from-rug-to-cornice-design-and-wall-detail-margaret-on-the-job\/img_4547\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1246\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-1246 \" title=\"IMG_4547\" src=\"https:\/\/margaretdonaldsoninteriors.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/IMG_4547-1.jpg\" alt=\"Option 2 for the valance\" width=\"413\" height=\"537\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Option 2 for the valance is a bit sharper and more striking. We have a winner!<\/p>\n<p>Wow&#8230;that&#8217;s a lot for one day. But, we&#8217;re not finished yet. MDI always tries to coordinate appointments so that we can be as efficient and productive as possible. Suzanne has a wonderful way about her and we love working with her. She is both fun and talented. \u00a0Whew! That was a productive appointment. We can&#8217;t wait to share the finished product with you.
