Last month we were honored with four ASID awards for three of our recent projects. The ASID Excellence in Design Awards highlights projects about the Carolinas Chapter of ASID that successfully address client objectives, demonstrate creativity, and skillfully solve problems in interior design<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-8563\" src=\"https:\/\/margaretdonaldsoninteriors.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/Fripp-3.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Margaret Donaldson Interiors won two second place awards for our <a href=\"https:\/\/margaretdonaldsoninteriors.com\/portfolio\/fripp-island-oceanfront\/\">Fripp Island Oceanfront<\/a> project:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>2<sup>nd<\/sup> Place &#8211; Vacation\/ Secondary Home (whole main house)<\/li>\n<li>2<sup>nd<\/sup> Place &#8211; Specialty Furniture Piece (bar)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Our clients wanted a home on <a href=\"https:\/\/frippislandresort.com\/\">Fripp Island<\/a> that is luxurious and inviting with high end finishes and fixtures in their favored beach community. Their home went far above and beyond the standard of elegance, size, technology, and style in the immediate area. We were invited to collaborate with the architect and builder in driving the design to embrace a more \u201cKiawah look\u201d while also suiting the particular clients\u2019 aesthetic and preferences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-8560\" src=\"https:\/\/margaretdonaldsoninteriors.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/Fripp-4.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>We worked with a kitchen and bath design team to create custom cabinets that suited the precise needs of the space. We used all our design chops to create a space that told the story of the family and gave them the home they desired for entertaining and relaxing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of our challenges was the Fripp Island community in which this project was built is an older, somewhat dated resort community. We were tasked with creating a very high-end home in a community where that is not the norm. As such, we paired with other resources that could deliver the desired result even if it required bringing people from 2-3 hours away to complete the job.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-8561\" src=\"https:\/\/margaretdonaldsoninteriors.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/Fripp-2.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>We were the eyes on the ground for this project as both the client and architect were not local to the job. Oversite of the proper application and selection of fixtures fell under our purview to a greater extent than usual due to the architect being long distance. This was something that the client needed and a key factor in us being selected as the designers on this job.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One our favorite features <a href=\"https:\/\/margaretdonaldsoninteriors.com\/portfolio\/fripp-island-oceanfront\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">is the custom bar<\/a>. The client wanted a bar in their living space but did not want it to scream \u201cbar\u201d. We worked to create a custom piece with an integrated ice machine, sink, glassware storage, and liquor storage that appeared to be an antique hutch. We\u2019re really proud of this project and honored to be recognized by ASID for the outcome.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This week we&#8217;re showing you our Fripp Island house.
