{"id":8084,"date":"2019-12-19T11:37:28","date_gmt":"2019-12-19T16:37:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/margaretdonaldsoninteriors.com\/?p=8084"},"modified":"2019-12-19T11:37:28","modified_gmt":"2019-12-19T16:37:28","slug":"award-winning-bedrooms","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/box2483.temp.domains\/~urbanar5\/mdi-maradesignco-com\/award-winning-bedrooms\/","title":{"rendered":"Award-winning Bedrooms"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Recently the\nMDI team won a 1st place ASID award for our ION Eclectic project, and today\nwe\u2019re showing you the gorgeous bedrooms.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Master Bedroom<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/margaretdonaldsoninteriors.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/Donaldson2018_4_Ion-331.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-8087\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The master bedroom features a restrained feminine palette of blush pink and layered neutrals. We dressed the window wall in a blush and cream linen with a <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Chinoiserie\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"chinoiserie (opens in a new tab)\">chinoiserie<\/a> print, but for the windows on the bed wall, we utilized simple shutters to allow space for the four-poster bed. The silk and bamboo blend rug adds to the luxurious feeling of the room. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/margaretdonaldsoninteriors.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/Donaldson2018_4_Ion-361.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-8086\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/margaretdonaldsoninteriors.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/Donaldson2018_4_Ion-448.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-8093\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Our client\nwanted her room to feel feminine and luxurious without feeling adolescent or\nprissy. We mixed warm woods and added layers of texture and interest in the\nbedding to help achieve the desired tone. The bedding is a mix of premade and\nbespoke pillows to achieve the balance of luxurious but lived in.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The master\nbath boasts excellent natural light. We added a quirky oversized chandelier and\naccessories to the space to add the client\u2019s personality. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The vanity\narea of the master bath is simple and refined. We updated the lighting with\nfunky linear fixtures in a nickel finish. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/margaretdonaldsoninteriors.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/Donaldson2018_4_Ion-739.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-8091\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/margaretdonaldsoninteriors.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/Donaldson2018_4_Ion-390.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-8103\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Guest Rooms<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of three\nwell-appointed guest bedrooms, this room was designed around the client\u2019s\nheirloom bed. We wanted the bedroom to feel harmonious with the rest of the\nhome and, as such, paired the antique bed with clean-lined, simple bedside\ntables, simple sculptural lamps, and luxurious bedding in a pale aqua marble\nprint. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/margaretdonaldsoninteriors.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/Donaldson2018_4_Ion-19.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-8088\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/margaretdonaldsoninteriors.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/Donaldson2018_4_Ion-23.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-8090\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/margaretdonaldsoninteriors.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/Donaldson2018_4_Ion-38.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-8089\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The draperies\nin this bedroom are bespoke linen panels with a light aqua ombre, which plays\nwell with both the traditional and modern elements of the room. Space did not\nallow for a full armchair, so we instead included a small side chair with a\nconventional quatrefoil back and unexpected grey sheepskin seat upholstery. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The rug\nselected for this space features traditional motifs set at an exaggerated scale\nto juxtapose again modern and traditional. The bright aqua lacquered chest is a\nsurprising counterpoint to the antique bed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This Jack and\nJill bath takes full advantage of the space allocated to it with two vanities\nseparated by a window seat covered by a colorful bespoke cushion. A subtle nod\nto the home\u2019s seaside location, the pendant lights feature sea glass beads. The\ncolorful runner bridges the color stories of the adjoining bedrooms. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/margaretdonaldsoninteriors.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/Donaldson2018_4_Ion-119.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-8085\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Possibly the boldest space in the home is this aqua and magenta room featuring layers of textures in bold hues to create a truly luxurious space. Since including a king-sized bed was essential to the client, we had to work around covering a portion of two of the windows with the headboard. We tackled this obstacle head-on by going big and bold with the modern four-poster bed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/margaretdonaldsoninteriors.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/Donaldson2018_4_Ion-72.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-8096\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/margaretdonaldsoninteriors.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/Donaldson2018_4_Ion-55-1600x2400.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-8097\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/margaretdonaldsoninteriors.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/Donaldson2018_4_Ion-108.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-8098\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/margaretdonaldsoninteriors.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/Donaldson2018_4_Ion-91.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-8099\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The windows were treated as one unit with shutters providing light control and a single stationary panel hanging on the far side of the window. We used one very long rod that spans across both windows and the bed to emphasis the thought and intention put into the room\u2019s design. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A\ncommissioned piece by a local artist fits perfectly in the room nestled above\nan eye-catching sculptural accent chair upholstered in aqua velvet. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The black\nlacquered chest adds a layer of sophistication and helps ground the room. Brass\nelements are repeated in the details tying into the accents in other parts of\nthe home. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The final\nguest room, a suite complete with mini kitchenette, features a soothing and\nsoft palette. We mixed painted and stained wood with luxurious textiles to\ncreate a room that is an elegant escape. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/margaretdonaldsoninteriors.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/Donaldson2018_4_Ion-178.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-8100\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/margaretdonaldsoninteriors.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/Donaldson2018_4_Ion-196.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-8101\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/margaretdonaldsoninteriors.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/Donaldson2018_4_Ion-214.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-8102\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The\nupholstered king bed is dressed in crisp white linens with blue accents. The\ndrapery panels feature beautiful embroidery of blues on a white linen ground.\nThe bedside tables were selected for their small scale, allowing us to fit a\nking bed.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The other\nside of the guest suite houses a relaxed seating area. The coco bead chandelier\ndraws your eye up to appreciate the architecture of the space.
