On\nMay 2nd<\/sup> Margaret hosted a beautiful party to celebrate the 30-year\nanniversary of her business, Margaret Donaldson Interiors, a.k.a. MDI. In her\nspeech she shared that she decided to opened her own business just a few days\nbefore she was due to give birth to Robert , her first son. With one adventure\nafter another she grew her business into what it is today \u2013 a busy, beloved and\nrespected design firm.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

The soiree was held at Margaret and Rob\u2019s historic harbor-front Mount Pleasant home<\/a>. Guests included MDI friends, family, past and present clients, and colleagues including subcontractors, vendors, architects, builders, and real estate agents. Party goers rode golf cart shuttles to her home where they picked up magnetic name badges from an elegant flower-filled table.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Guests were then greeted by MDI\u2019s official mascot, Abby the Golden Retriever. Abby wore a smart blue gingham bow and did a smashing job of welcoming friends. Once guests had been attended to, she tried her best to befriend the serving staff despite the \u201cDo Not Feed Abby\u201d sign in the yard.<\/p>\n

For attendees, the first stop was bubbly or cocktails by Randy Kasten and his crew. Light blue cocktail napkins listed different fun facts about MDI. Savory hors d\u2019oeuvres by caterer Karen Phillips were passed, and Goat. Sheep. Cow. provided charcuterie.<\/p>\n

After everyone arrived, the MDI team gathered on the porch for Margaret\u2019s speech. She spoke about her beginnings, how much she has enjoyed being part of her clients\u2019 lives, and how much she appreciates her hard-working team and circle of colleagues, subcontractors, and vendors.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere really are no words to express the heartfelt gratitude I have for all of you who have been part of this journey. I love what I do and I couldn\u2019t do it without you all,\u201d she said. \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Guests also enjoyed fried seafood with Southern sides from Ravenel Fresh Seafood #2. As everyone chatted with old friends and introduced themselves to new ones, they enjoyed music by contemporary violinist, Seth G<\/a>. A \u201cThrough the Years\u201d photo wall displayed photos of Margaret\u2019s interior design projects from every year of her business<\/p>\n

It was a perfect Lowcountry evening. As the sun set on the harbor the celebration continued. As guests left they received a sweet treat \u2013 a pair of cookies that were quite recognizable.<\/p>\n
