Placencia was settled in the 17<sup>th<\/sup>\ncentury by settlers from Nova Scotia but eventually resettled by Spaniards.\nMangroves, white sand beaches, and the Caribbean Sea surround the peninsula. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Margaret and Rob took a well-earned break over Easter to the small village of Placencia, Belize. Placencia was settled in the 17<sup>th<\/sup> century by settlers from Nova Scotia but eventually resettled by Spaniards. Mangroves, white sand beaches, and the Caribbean Sea surround the peninsula. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The small village is a mecca for people who love to kayak,\nsnorkel, dive, and fish. There are 100,000 acres of forest that serve as a\njaguar preserve, and nearly 300 species of birds. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Margaret found inspiration in the way the sea changed from\nturquoise to deep blue and in the bright colors of the architecture.
