A neutral palette allows the structural elements to stand out. From tile to wood detailing, nothing fell short of making each space exceptional.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>With three levels of outdoor living facing the Atlantic Ocean and views from every window, this was the perfect opportunity to indulge in unique island interior design.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-5424 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/margaretdonaldsoninteriors.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Isle-of-pams-interior-design-2-650x451-1.png\" alt=\"isle-of-palms-interior-design-2\" width=\"650\" height=\"451\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Isle of Palms has a long history as a vacation spot, as well as a place for locals to have a second weekend or family home on the beach. However, in 1989 the island was nearly wiped off the map by Hurricane Hugo. As a result, the Isle of Palms interior design aesthetic is a mix of traditional and contemporary.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The incredible woodwork begins in the rear entry, with a barrel-vaulted ceiling and decorative paneling and molding.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-5425 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/margaretdonaldsoninteriors.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Isle-of-pams-interior-design-3-650x464-1.png\" alt=\"isle-of-palms-interior-design-3\" width=\"650\" height=\"464\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The entry has two built-in shelving walls that are perfect for displaying sea treasures (and giving the home an immediate <a href=\"http:\/\/margaretdonaldsoninteriors.com\/2016\/04\/adding-a-sense-of-place\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">sense of place<\/a>). Notice the arches at the top of the units mirror the rounded entryway.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-5426 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/margaretdonaldsoninteriors.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Isle-of-pams-interior-design-4-650x467-1.png\" alt=\"isle-of-palms-interior-design-4\" width=\"650\" height=\"467\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In the kitchen, the clean, neutral color palette lets the view shine. The wood top on the white island warms up the space and is an unusual twist on the <a href=\"http:\/\/margaretdonaldsoninteriors.com\/2016\/04\/two-tone-kitchen-cabinets\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">two-tone cabinet<\/a> trend.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-5427 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/margaretdonaldsoninteriors.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Isle-of-pams-interior-design-650x462-1.png\" alt=\"isle-of-palms-interior-design\" width=\"650\" height=\"462\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Vaulted arches and expert craftsmanship continue in the master bedroom.
