The trick is getting the split balanced with enough contrast so that you notice, but not so much that it&#8217;s jarring. Some of our favorite kitchen interior design projects are on Kiawah Island, and many of them feature two-tone cabinets. <!--more--><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-5332 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/margaretdonaldsoninteriors.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/Screen-Shot-2016-09-27-at-3.25.36-PM-650x468-1.png\" alt=\"Two tone kitchen cabinets\" width=\"650\" height=\"468\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This custom home on <a href=\"http:\/\/margaretdonaldsoninteriors.com\/portfolio\/classic-cassique\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kiawah Island<\/a> is nestled in the secluded <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kiawahisland.com\/real-estate\/neighborhoods\/cassique\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cassique<\/a> neighborhood. The homeowners were extremely involved in the architecture and interior design finishes in this dream home overlooking Captain Sam&#8217;s Spit. The visual bulk of the cabinets are ivory, and we added strong contrast with a warm wood eating counter and prep island. We chose Blue Bahia granite for the eating counter and echoed the blue in the Robin&#8217;s Egg blue middle island. The result is a kitchen with a personality that feels cozy and collected.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-5397 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/margaretdonaldsoninteriors.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/Screen-Shot-2016-10-03-at-11.06.48-AM-650x486-1.png\" alt=\"two tone kitchen cabinets\" width=\"650\" height=\"486\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In <a href=\"http:\/\/margaretdonaldsoninteriors.com\/portfolio\/rhetts-bluff-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">another home on Kiawah Island<\/a> we used an oyster shell white (grey base) with a light grey island. To contrast the white cabinets, we chose a black granite top. To contrast the grey cabinets, we chose a white marble. The black \/ white \/ grey color scheme keeps the home sophisticated and neutral while providing a back drop for warm wood accents, art and natural textures.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-5398 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/margaretdonaldsoninteriors.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/Screen-Shot-2016-10-03-at-11.09.39-AM-650x429-1.png\" alt=\"two tone kitchen cabinets\" width=\"650\" height=\"429\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In our sunny <a href=\"http:\/\/margaretdonaldsoninteriors.com\/portfolio\/turtle-beach\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Turtle Beach project<\/a>, also on Kiawah Island, a generous wood island and eating counter add depth to an otherwise white kitchen.
