No matter what your color scheme, using black accents can help define your space. Black helps anchor light or bright colors and gives the eye a place to rest \u2013 sort of like the period at the end of a sentence. Here are some ways we’ve used black accents in our interior design projects: In our Rhett\u2019s Bluff project<\/a> on Kiawah Island<\/a>, our black accents serve to both anchor the neutral color scheme so it doesn\u2019t wash out, and pops the apple green in the art.<\/p>\n

Charlestonians have long spent summers on Pawley’s Island<\/a>. We used black accents in our project on DeBordieu Creek <\/a> to help the eye travel around the room. Black is also a staple of industrial d\u00e9cor, so we used it liberally to enhance the barnwood fireplace wall and the organic neutrals of the walls and furniture.<\/p>\n

We used black accents in our Surfsong Beach project<\/a> on Kiawah Island to bring a masculine balance to otherwise feminine elements. Notice the turned legs on the chairs, the slim legs on the side tables and the tailored profile of the lamps. Black furniture also hearkens back to West Indies decor, which works so well in Charleston homes.<\/p>\n

Black accents lend a sense of mystery in our Downtown Condo project<\/a>. On the mirrored fireplace wall, the predominantly black oil painting relates the foxed mirror to the rest of the space. On the opposite wall the black frame allows the bold reds and greens to shine.<\/p>\n
