We&#8217;re excited to show you the photographs of Ashley Hall School&#8217;s new Rutledge House for Global Studies. <!--more-->We took these photos at the opening so you could have a look into our Charleston design:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/margaretdonaldsoninteriors.com\/2014\/09\/out-and-about-rutledge-house-for-global-studies\/photo-1-3-4\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2577\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-2577\" title=\"photo 1 (3)\" src=\"https:\/\/margaretdonaldsoninteriors.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/photo-1-3-500x375-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Built in the 19th century, the former home is incredibly historical \u2014 which is why it was such an honor to work on it. We often feel very lucky to have the chance to do interiors for so many stunning Charleston buildings.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/margaretdonaldsoninteriors.com\/2014\/09\/out-and-about-rutledge-house-for-global-studies\/photo-1-2-6\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2584\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-2584\" title=\"photo 1 (2)\" src=\"https:\/\/margaretdonaldsoninteriors.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/photo-1-21-500x375-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We learned so many things, like that its bathroom was the very first indoor bathroom ever installed in Charleston. How cool is that?<\/p>\n<p>It was important in our interior design to work around the architectural beauty, using minimalist color schemes along with decor that wasn&#8217;t too elaborate.We wanted the result to be elegant without taking away from the original aesthetics of the house itself.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/margaretdonaldsoninteriors.com\/2014\/09\/out-and-about-rutledge-house-for-global-studies\/photo-3-1-3\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2582\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-2582\" title=\"photo 3 (1)\" src=\"https:\/\/margaretdonaldsoninteriors.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/photo-3-11-375x500-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"375\" height=\"500\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It was amazing to work with the original design of the building, which was a nice mix of eras \u2014 from antebellum Italianate to Victorian.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/margaretdonaldsoninteriors.com\/2014\/09\/out-and-about-rutledge-house-for-global-studies\/photo-3-3-3\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2583\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-2583\" title=\"photo 3 (3)\" src=\"https:\/\/margaretdonaldsoninteriors.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/photo-3-31-375x500-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"375\" height=\"500\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The historical Charleston home is that the expansive first floor still features its original chandeliers, mantels, ceiling stenciling, shutters, plaster work, and more.<\/p>\n<p>This is me with Joe Schmidt, the architect who was able to preserve the historical elements of the house while also transforming it into a dorm\/classroom student center.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/margaretdonaldsoninteriors.com\/2014\/09\/out-and-about-rutledge-house-for-global-studies\/photo-1-1-2\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2585\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-2585\" title=\"photo 1 (1)\" src=\"https:\/\/margaretdonaldsoninteriors.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/photo-1-11-375x500-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"375\" height=\"500\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Here, I&#8217;m with Anne Pope\u00a0and Ann Dibble, who headed up getting donations for the furnishings from alumnae.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/margaretdonaldsoninteriors.com\/2014\/09\/out-and-about-rutledge-house-for-global-studies\/photo-2-3-5\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2586\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-2586\" title=\"photo 2 (3)\" src=\"https:\/\/margaretdonaldsoninteriors.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/photo-2-31-500x375-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We couldn&#8217;t be more proud of the result!
