Built in the 1880’s, 179 Rutledge Avenue is our latest historical renovation project. Margaret Donaldson Interiors is teaming up with Joe Schmidt of Evans and Schmidt Architects<\/a>\u00a0to transform Ashley Hall’s newest real estate acquisition into a space for small, intimate classes, round table discussions and school events\/entertaining. Charleston, SC interior design often times involves exquisite historical properties.It is a delight to work amongst the history, the architecture, the moldings! The challenge is to balance a respect of the past while bringing the spaces into the 21st century. Here are some shots from our initial work days along with last Thursday’s pre-construction party that kicked off the historical renovation project. The house originally took 11 years to built. We plan to have it ready for summer in anticipation of the 2014 school year. (*The feature image above is actually the staircase from the McBee House on the Ashley Hall main campus.)<\/p>\n
